Steel design, calculations and shop drawings, for whoever needs them
Engineering firms, architects, fabricators, contractors, farmers and homeowners need steel design for different reasons. Here are thirteen typical situations: what to send in each, what comes back, and real projects that show the work.
Who I work with
Engineering & architecture offices
Extra capacity and specialist steel work for offices: you keep the client and the signature, and I do the modelling, checking and drawing.
Calculations for an architect's permit file
A steel roof structure and an external stair need structural calculations for the permit.

Three steel jobs due in the same month. The firm's engineer reviews and signs; I model, check and report.

Common questions
Do you take small jobs?
Yes. A single pergola or one stair is as welcome as a factory. Every request gets a written scope and price before any work starts.
Which design codes do you work to?
Eurocode, AISC 360 or the code your project requires. Tell me which at the start, together with any national annex or local requirements.
Who signs the calculations?
Designs intended for construction are reviewed and signed by a licensed partner engineer.
Do you design foundations too?
Yes. With a geotechnical report, footings and anchors are designed and included in the calculation report.
How do we work together?
By e-mail. There are no forms and no accounts. Send drawings, photos or a model with a few lines about what you need.
Is my project kept confidential?
Project files are used only for your project. Nothing appears on this site without your written approval, and then only anonymised.
Your situation isn’t here?
Send it anyway. Drawings, photos or a model, and a few lines about what you need. Small jobs are welcome.
