The only way to contact me is info@structomat.com. When you write, I receive your e-mail address, your message and any files you attach. These are used only to answer you and, if we work together, to carry out the project. They are not added to a mailing list and are not sold or shared for marketing.

Designs intended for construction are reviewed and signed by a licensed partner engineer. If your project reaches that stage, the relevant project files are shared with that engineer for review.

Free tools

The free tools (IFC Steel Viewer & Takeoff and Steel Cutting Optimizer) run entirely in your browser. The models and part lists you open or type are processed on your own computer; they are not sent to this site or to anyone else. To read IFC files, the tools load open-source libraries (web-ifc and three.js) from the jsDelivr content delivery network. Like any web request, this shares your IP address with jsDelivr, but not your file.

If you send a takeoff from the viewer to the cutting optimizer, the member list is handed over through your browser’s local storage and deleted as soon as the optimizer reads it.

Ask Structomat

The Ask Structomat assistant runs in your browser. The first time you ask a question, it downloads a small AI model (about 8 MB) from this site, and your browser may keep it for later visits. Your question is matched to the knowledge base on your own computer; it is not sent to this site or to anyone else, and it is not stored.

Earthquake map

The earthquake map on the home page uses the public feed of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Our server downloads it once an hour, and your browser loads it from this site, so your browser does not contact USGS unless you open an earthquake’s event page.

Services loaded from other sites

Some parts of the site are loaded from third-party servers. Your browser connects to them directly, so they receive your IP address and basic browser information:

• Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com): the typefaces used on the site.
• jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net): the IFC libraries for the free tools, only when you open an IFC file.
• Gravatar (gravatar.com): the author image shown at the end of blog posts.

Each of these services handles that information under its own privacy policy.

Stored in your browser

The site does not set cookies for visitors. If you switch between light and dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser’s local storage so the site remembers it on your next visit. It stays on your device, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

Server logs and security

Like almost every website, the hosting server keeps standard technical logs of requests (such as IP address, time and the page requested). A security plugin may also record the IP address of requests it blocks. These records are used to keep the site running and secure, and not to track visitors.

Your choices

You can ask what information from your e-mails I hold, or ask for it to be deleted, by writing to info@structomat.com. Correspondence that belongs to a delivered project may need to be kept as part of that project’s records.

Changes

If the way this site handles information changes, for example if a form or a new tool is added, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change.
