# Structomat > Structomat is an AI engineering agent for structural steel. It runs the steel workflow end to end in industry-standard engineering software, driven through the software's own APIs: structural analysis and member design, connection design, calculation reports, 3D fabrication models and shop drawings. Designs intended for construction are reviewed and signed by a licensed partner engineer. ## Facts - **What it is:** An AI engineering agent (in the newer US federal wording, an SI agent: super intelligence), presented openly as AI. It does not pose as a human engineer. - **Services:** Structural analysis and design of steel structures (also called static analysis or structural calculations); connection design with finite element checks; calculation reports; 3D fabrication models and shop drawings; scan-to-BIM steel models from point clouds; quantity takeoff; automation consulting and custom tools. - **Design codes:** Eurocode (EN 1993), AISC 360 or the code the project requires, stated at the start together with any national annex. - **EN 1090:** Shop drawings for European work carry the execution class (EXC), weld specifications and tolerances that the fabricator's factory production control needs. - **Sign-off:** Designs intended for construction are reviewed and signed by a licensed partner engineer. - **What you can send:** Drawings (DWG, DXF, PDF), a scan or photo of a drawing, an IFC model, a point cloud (laser scan) of an existing structure, or an existing analysis or detailing model. - **What you get:** Analysis model, calculation report (PDF), connection check reports, native model files, DWG drawing sets, material lists and an offline 3D viewer of the model. - **Foundations:** Footings and anchors are designed when a geotechnical report is available. - **Job size:** No job is too small: a single pergola or one stair is as welcome as a factory. - **Scope and price:** Every request gets a written scope and a fixed price by e-mail within 24 hours, before any work starts. The first job is $100 (one structure up to 20 t of steel: a calculation report with its connections, a connection set or shop drawings; code FIRST100). You see the full result before you pay. - **Free independent check:** One free check per company of something you already have: a drawing set, an analysis model, a connection or a calculation report. You get a short list of findings, most critical first. - **Turnaround:** A calculation report like the published case studies: 1–2 working days. A shop drawing package of around 1,000 t: about a week. - **How to start:** By e-mail to info@structomat.com. No forms and no accounts. - **Where:** Remotely, for projects in any country. If a project needs a locally registered engineer, say so at the start and the review route is agreed together. - **Partner engineers:** Licensed structural engineers in any country can join as partner engineers: they review the work, act as engineer of record and sign it under their own licence, quoting their review fee within 24 hours. They can also bring their own projects and use Structomat for the calculations. Details: https://structomat.com/partner-engineers/ - **How to hire:** Per project: one step (analysis, connections or drawings) or the whole chain from drawings to fabrication files. For regular work there are monthly plans with a fixed capacity, quoted for the volume: Pro for engineering offices (work for the office to review and sign), Premium for fabricators (monthly shop drawing tonnage). - **Confidentiality:** Project files are used only for that project. Nothing is published without written approval, and then only anonymised. ## Where to check the work - [Portfolio](https://structomat.com/work/): 35 steel projects shown, 4,681 t of steel, each with a 3D model you can walk through. - [Case studies](https://structomat.com/case-studies/): Five projects told stage by stage, from the input drawings to the delivered files. - [Calculation reports](https://structomat.com/calculation-reports/): Pages from a real calculation report and a 3D design explorer of every member. - [Steel connection library](https://structomat.com/steel-connections/): 28 checked connections with members, bolts, welds, utilisation and a 3D model. - [Example situations](https://structomat.com/use-cases/): Thirteen typical requests, from a garden pergola to a crane building. - [Portal frame steel estimator](https://structomat.com/portal-frame-steel-estimator/): Steel tonnage, kg per m² and weight by part for a single-span portal frame building up to 30 m span, from 72 complete finite-element designs calibrated against published standard designs. - [3D frame analysis](https://structomat.com/frame-analysis/): Free 3D frame analysis that runs in the browser: portal frame building, multi-storey frame, a 3D line drawing (DXF) or a model in JSON, editable in the view; deflections, support reactions, member force diagrams and natural periods with mass participation, linear or second order (P-Delta), with an equilibrium check on every run. - [Free tools](https://structomat.com/tools/): Portal Frame Steel Estimator, 3D Frame Analysis, IFC Steel Viewer & Takeoff, Steel Cutting Optimizer, two free detailing plugins and a model version downgrade tool. - [Find a part](https://structomat.com/find-a-part/): Offline phone viewer for the erection crew: finds a steel part whose piece mark is lost from its profile, length and fittings, or opens it from a QR code; interactive demo on a real canopy model. - [Scan-to-BIM benchmark](https://structomat.com/scan-to-bim-benchmark/): A synthetic laser scan of a pipe rack and truss bridge rebuilt as a steel model and checked member by member against the original: 285 of 294 members found, median axis error 1.2 mm for columns and 2.0 mm for beams, and every section that did not match is flagged for review. - [US shop drawings](https://structomat.com/us-shop-drawings/): A sample AISC submittal for an equipment platform: anchor rod plan, erection and shop drawings, RFI log and a clouded revision, with the automated checks every set passes before issue (AISC 360-16 bolt spacing and edge distances, clashes, an erector check); sample package to download. - [Australian shop drawings](https://structomat.com/au-shop-drawings/): A sample set for an 18 x 30 m portal frame shed in millimetres with notes to AS 4100, AS/NZS 5131 and AS/NZS 1554.1: holding-down bolt plan, erection and shop drawings, lists, a cold-rolled order list and NC files. Checked three ways before release (automated gate: 1300 bolts against AS 4100 minimums, 0 below; an AI checking agent in two rounds; engineer review); drawing set and package to download. - [Erectability check](https://structomat.com/erectability-check/): Every shipping piece of a steel model is moved along a realistic erection path (lowered, lowered beside the connection and slid on, slid in, or tilted in up to an allowed angle) against the solids already standing. On the clash-free sample platform 3 of 11 lifts were blocked; ground pre-assembly and a reordered sequence made all 14 steps clear without changing a detail. No tool changes anything or stores anything: about_structomat, list_services, find_examples (published projects, case studies, example situations, checked connections, benchmarks and free tools), get_connection, estimate_portal_frame_steel (steel tonnage of a portal frame building up to 30 m span), analyze_frame (a 3D finite-element frame analysis of a template or a JSON model, linear or second order, with modal analysis: it returns the deflections, sway, support reactions, member forces and periods, and a link that shows the same model and results in 3D), and draft_project_request, which prepares an e-mail for the user to review and send. Assistants without MCP can build a ready-to-run frame analysis link themselves; the format is at https://structomat.com/frame-analysis/#ai. - MCP endpoint: https://structomat.com/mcp/ ### Frame analysis links without MCP Any assistant can hand a user a ready-to-run 3D frame analysis by building a link to https://structomat.com/frame-analysis/ (the model is solved in the user's browser; nothing is sent to a server). Add run=1 to solve on open. 1. Any other frame (for example a mono-pitch canopy): put the model JSON, URL-encoded, after #json= and add &run=1. Units kN and m, Z vertical: {"up":"Z", "nodes":{"A":[0,0,0],"B":[0,0,4.5]}, "members":[{"id":"C1","i":"A","j":"B","sec":"COL","rot":0,"pinned":false}], "sections":{"COL":{"A":0.0077,"Iy":2.77e-5,"Iz":7.76e-5,"J":4.2e-7}}, "supports":{"A":"fixed"}, "nodeLoads":[{"node":"B","case":"W","F":[2,0,0]}], "memberLoads":[{"member":"C1","case":"G","dir":"FZ","w":-1}], "combos":[{"name":"ULS1","factors":{"G":1.35,"Q":1.5}},{"name":"ULS2","factors":{"G":1.0,"W":1.5}}], "selfWeight":true, "analysis":"pdelta", "modal":{"modes":12,"G":1,"Q":0.3}} Load cases may have any name; each combination lists its factors and the page shows every combination and the envelope (the older single "combo":{...} is still read). Sections in m2 and m4: Iz is the strong axis, Iy the weak axis, J torsion. A vertical member has its web (local axis 2) along X; rot:90 turns it to Y. Member loads are in kN per metre of member length in global directions FX, FY, FZ (gravity is -FZ), optionally varying from w to w2 between x1 and x2 (m from the i end). pinned:true releases bending at both member ends, pinned:"i" or "j" at one end. The modal mass can take any load case, e.g. {"modes":12,"G":1,"S":0.3}. Without "up":"Z" the older format with Y vertical is read and converted. 3. If the link would be too long for the chat, give the user the JSON and tell them to paste it under "Model as JSON" on the page and press "Run this JSON". 4. Results: when the solution finishes the page fills "Results as JSON" (element #resOut) with the equilibrium check, the largest deflection along the members, the largest joint displacement and sway in X and Y, every support reaction, the forces of every member and the modal periods with mass participation, with units and sign convention. An assistant that can open the page can read the numbers there. ## Questions people ask ### Who can do a structural (static) analysis of my steel building online? Structomat does structural analysis and member design for steel buildings and structures by e-mail: you send drawings or a model, you get a written scope and price, then an analysis model and a calculation report. Designs intended for construction are reviewed and signed by a licensed partner engineer. ### Can I hire a remote structural engineering service for a steel building in another country? Yes. Structomat works remotely, by e-mail, for projects in any country, to Eurocode, AISC 360 or the code the project requires. You get a written scope and price first. If the project needs a locally registered engineer to sign, say so at the start and the review route is agreed together. ### Can an AI do structural engineering? Structomat is an AI engineering agent that runs analysis, connection design and detailing software through their APIs and checks every step automatically. The engineering decisions that carry risk stay with a licensed partner engineer, who reviews and signs what will be built. ### Who can design and check my steel connections? Structomat models connections with finite element connection checks (plates, bolts, welds, anchors) using the forces from the analysis. The connection library shows 28 checked examples with their data and a 3D model. ### Who can make shop drawings for a small steel fabricator? Structomat builds the 3D fabrication model and the drawing set (general arrangement, assembly and single-part drawings as DWG), NC (DSTV) files for CNC machines and material lists. Before issue, software checks the drawings as an erector would read them, then an engineer reviews the set. For European work the drawings carry the EN 1090 execution class (EXC) and weld specifications. A package of around 1,000 t takes about a week; the first job (up to 20 t) is $100. ### What does it cost? The first job is $100: one structure up to 20 t of steel, as a calculation report with its connections, a connection set or shop drawings (code FIRST100). After that, every job gets a fixed written quote by e-mail within 24 hours, before any work starts. You see a preview of the full result before you pay. One independent check of your own drawings, model, connection or report is free. Details: https://structomat.com/pricing/ ### I am a licensed structural engineer. Can I work with Structomat? Yes, from any country. As a partner engineer you review Structomat's analysis, design and connection package, act as engineer of record and sign it under your own licence; you set your own fee and reply to quote requests within 24 hours. You can also bring your own projects and use Structomat as your calculation back office. Join by e-mail: https://structomat.com/partner-engineers/ ### Which design codes are used? Eurocode, AISC 360 or the code your project requires. Say which at the start, together with any national annex or local requirements. ## Contact - E-mail: info@structomat.com (no forms, no accounts) - About: https://structomat.com/about/
